Conference energy

The Feldenkrais Centre Vancouver is closed August 27- September 6.

We are attending the annual Feldenkrais Method® conference in San Francisco preceded by the two day Esther Thelen Research Symposium, named in honour of the late Dr. Esther Thelen, a renowned developmental psychologist and Feldenkrais Method practitioner. Both the symposium and conference are focused on neuroscience.

The conference keynote will be delivered by Michael Merzenich, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus at the University of San Francisco, and co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer at Posit Science. Dr. Merzenich has been one of the world’s leading pioneers in brain plasticity research for over three decades. His keynote address will be “On the Path to Integrated Recoveries: Brain Plasticity Bases of the Development and Restoration of Impaired Brain Systems.”

We will be attending half or full day workshops focused on different aspects of the Feldenkrais Method geared to practitioners. There are also workshops and sessions for members of the public interested in learning more about the Feldenkrais Method and lots on offer for professionals in the fields of human development, performance, and health.

We will have our annual business meeting, a forum to discuss continuing competency for practitioners and I will be attending 3 days of meetings in my capacity as the Canadian representative on the Board of Directors of the Feldenkrais Guild of North America.

All in all a jam packed 10 days. I look forward to writing more about it from there and when we return.

The Feldenkrais Centre Vancouver reopens on September 7 for individual sessions; there are 2 appointment slots still available.
