Resiliency

Resiliency, again.

Resilience, the ability to bounce back from difficult situations.

As the Omicron wave swept through the world, and BC during the end of 2021 and into January 2022, we were again required to show our stuff, to hunker down in order to get through yet another wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout the last 2 years we have, as a collective, weathered a lot and have shown we have what it takes to help mitigate risks by doing our part in following  public health guidelines.  Most of us are fatigued and wish things could be different and that we could all escape to somewhere where there is no COVID. As a friend recently remarked, the pandemic has overstayed it’s welcome; however COVID doesn’t think so and is sticking around like an unwanted guest.

In addition to coping with the metaphorical COVID storm, all parts of the country have had their share of winter storms and arctic temperatures through January. Let us hope that February brings more favourable winter weather and that Spring comes early. The good news is that the days are very gradually getting longer and we have to take solace where we can get it. For me, it means grabbing any opportunity to get outdoors and walk when the rain or snow let up. When the sun shines, that really makes my day.

Starting January 20, at least in BC, we have been allowed to resume in studio classes, with COVID protocols in place. Our in person Awareness Through Movement classes have resumed, at the Feldenkrais Centre Vancouver and at the JCC, with size limitations. There is one class remaining on Zoom. As well, private sessions are again available, please check here to book yours.

My wish is that we all remain healthy, both physically and mentally. Our leaders are now promoting a gradual return to normalcy where we live alongside the corona virus but it doesn’t define us and our lives.
